PROGRAM

Day 1

We will leave the Riviera Maya and make our first stop at a magnificent Mayan archaeological site: Ek Balam. This grandiose, well-preserved site is less known and visited than Chichen Itza. Your expert guide will tell you all about the wonders of this site and the Mayan civilization. We will then continue our journey to the north of the peninsula to discover the famous pink salt flats before arriving in the fishing village of Rio Lagartos, where we will spend the night in a hotel overlooking the lagoon.

Day 2

At dawn, when the birds are most active, we will take a long private boat trip to the sumptuous Ria Lagartos bird sanctuary. Flamingos, spoonbills, herons, ospreys, kingfishers and crocodiles are just some of the species we can expect to encounter. We’ll visit the mangrove swamp of San Felipe, the village marking the start of the reserve, then enjoy a typical local meal before stopping off at the most ornate cenote on the peninsula, with its thousands of stalactites and stalagmites, for a quiet swim in this splendid cave.
