SIAN KA’AN
The Sian Ka’an Reserve is a vast protected area spanning over 2 000 square miles. There are several options and departure zones to visit it. At Sayab Trip, we prefer to avoid areas where too many boats chase animals like dolphins. That’s why we offer our favorite option: the northern zone, less touristy and therefore more respectful of wildlife.
A unique experience
Our tour focuses on wildlife and flora. A boat ride on the northern lagoon of the reserve frequently allows for sightings of crocodiles, especially during the winter nesting months, as well as ospreys, roseate spoonbills, various species of herons, pelicans, or frigatebirds. On this vast lagoon, observing manatees, present 95% of the time, is a must! However, please note that, in accordance with reserve regulations, manatee sightings are only allowed from the boat. During this tour, we will navigate to the “flotation canal”: a natural canal with clear water winding through the mangroves for about half a mile. You will have a unique experience enjoying a relaxing swim in the gentle current. Duration of the boat ride: approximately 4 hours.
There is a shorter and more economical version of the tour, lasting about 1.5 hours by boat to explore the canal without manatee sightings. Please let us know if you are interested in this option.
Afterwards, we will head to a restaurant to replenish our energy after this ride through one of the best-preserved and most beautiful mangroves you will see during your stay in Mexico

- Between Playa and Tulum = No extra charge
- Between Playa and Puerto Morelos = +500 Mxn
- Between Puerto Morelos and Cancun = +900 Mxn
Recommended departure time: 7:30 am, return around 3:30 pm. You are, of course, free to choose a different time at your convenience.
