Mexico is considered one of the countries with the highest rates of biodiversity in the world, home to thousands of native and endemic species. Nearly 12% of the world’s total biodiversity is said to be present in the country. In the Yucatan Peninsula, thousands of species of birds, mammals and reptiles hide in this dense jungle brimming with life.
A unique experience
We will look for spider monkeys and howler monkeys living freely in a nature reserve. At this fabulous site, we will canoe on a stunning lagoon and for the more adventurous of you, enjoy a zip-lining experience. We will visit an authentic Maya community that perpetuates its traditions and culture. Our hosts will share with us their way of cultivating their vegetable garden or raising the native bees of the region, the famous Melipona.
Then we will refresh ourselves in a beautiful cenote. Afterwards, we will also discover the wonderful project of Manuel, a resident of a neighboring community who has decided to save the white-tailed deer, a species of cervid in the region, along with a few other species native to the Yucatan. His garden has transformed into a little paradise of life.
This day will showcase the fauna and flora of the region, as well as genuine communities aware of the importance of saving the crucial ecosystem of this area.
